Two Weeks!

Charlotte is two weeks today and we have made it through the first week of being home just her and I.  I can say that I started out the week pretty nervous (okay really nervous) but we are ending on a good note.  I made my first outing with her to John's softball game this week which was a great confidence booster.  Getting the diaper bag, car seat, stroller, etc (the list goes on and on) all together and making sure she is content in her seat is a lot to take on but we managed just fine and John was really excited when we surprised him at his game!

Charlotte cheered John on in her own way:

Two Week Happenings:

- We are not so much on a schedule but getting there.  You are eating about every 3 hours both day and night.  Your awake time during the day is great!  You are so alert when you are awake and have been doing a few minutes of tummy time.  I am sure this will increase next week and I may start to bring out a few of the millions of toys we have for you to see if anything peaks your interest!

- First Dr. Well Visit!  It went great- you are gaining weight right on schedule (now 6 lbs 15oz which makes me very happy) and you have grown 2 inches since birth (now 21.5 inches long)!  This is a great sign that we are a great team when it comes to breastfeeding! However, this week you  have had a few spit up moments that should have been captured on America's Funniest Home Video's as they required furniture wipe down and a change of clothes for the both of us!

- Jackson has pretty much adjusted to the fact that Charlotte comes first right now. Every once in a while we will catch up being a little too curious about her when she is in the swing or some other "eye-level" apparatus that we put her in that he can easily get to her.

- There are some days that when the sun is up and I go and get you up for the day, looking at you just makes me cry with such happiness.  You make me so happy that I cannot find the words to describe it.  John is amazing with you; he is so comfortable in all situations.  He comes home and can't wait to hold and cuddle with you and you two have afternoon conversations everyday as soon as he comes in (he does all the talking and you just make funny faces at him)!

All in all you were a rock star at your checkup this week and have been pretty content just hanging at the house this week with me while I do a few chores (but mostly just cuddle with you)..shhh!!! it will be our secret!

And Baby Makes Three....

Baby Lane has arrived and boy oh boy has life changed!  I am doing a one week update post a few days late (oh well considering I almost never know what day it is these days).

Before I do the one week post, I wanted to re-cap the last 9 months since, as usual, I did a horrible job of pregnancy posts.  I am really hoping with me being home that I find the time to really do weekly updates so that I will have those memories captured forever.  I will admit though, now that we are moving into week number two at home, I find that I really don't have as much time yet to do things as I thought I would.... go figure!

A little preggo re-cap in photos of course:

And... without further ado, introducing Charlotte Marie!!!!  She arrived promptly on Thursday, May 2nd at 840am weighing 6 lbs and 12 ounces:

I am pretty sure that I'll be doing a "Birth Story" post as I read so many other bloggers stories that really helped me be prepared for delivery that I want to also share my story as well!

ONE WEEK:

There is so much to say about this first week.  Emotions, transitions, pictures, family and friends--its a wild time!  My favorite part about week one was that John was home all week and it was just the three of us for the entire week.  Sure family and friends stopped by for short visits but the three of us spent some really great quality time together!  Charlotte and I got the hang of breastfeeding by about midweek.  I was super nervous as you had lost 10% of your birth weight by the time we left the hospital and the countdown was on for my milk to come in.  Sure enough, it came in and you have been nursing great all week.  We did do some pumping and syringe supplementing those first two days at home to ensure that my milk had fully come in given your weight loss but by the end of the week, we were exclusively breastfeeding.

You haven't cried a ton, you do more grunting and mini cries (I am not complaining). However, when you are ready to eat- it is go time!  You move your arms up and down and shake as if you are so hungry at that very moment you can't stand it! As far as sleep goes, well some nights were better than others.  You did have one night where you slept in 4 hour blocks but for the most part you are in a 2.5 -3 hour feeding schedule so we will take what we can get!  You definitely recognize my voice and Johns voice, which melts my heart.  Diapers are a bit of a challenge on you as you have skinny mini long legs,  so we have been trying different brands to see what works best!  All in all, there are no words to explain how amazing you are and how much we love you.
